Porsche has expanded its 911 lineup with the introduction of the GT3 S/C (Sport Cabriolet), a high-performance open-top variant that effectively serves as a GT3 convertible. This new model arrives as Porsche reports record-breaking sales for the 911 series, which reached 51,583 deliveries in 2025 and continues to see significant growth in early 2026.

Mechanical and Structural Design

The GT3 S/C is the first GT3 variant to feature a fully automated fabric roof, distinguishing it from the manual operation required by the previous 911 Speedster. The roof can open or close in approximately 12 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. To manage the weight increase associated with the motorized top, Porsche utilized extensive lightweight materials. The hood, fenders, doors, and rear anti-roll bar are constructed from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Standard magnesium wheels and ceramic brakes further reduce mass, resulting in a total curb weight of 3,322 pounds—only 66 pounds heavier than the Speedster.

The vehicle is the first 911 convertible to utilize a double-wishbone front suspension. The chassis tuning is modeled after the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package to maintain track-oriented handling characteristics.

Performance and Specifications

Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine capable of reaching 9,000 rpm. It produces 502 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. In a move catering to purists, the GT3 S/C is available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. Performance metrics include a 0–60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.

Market Positioning

Unlike the limited-edition Speedster, the GT3 S/C is not a restricted production run. It is configured strictly as a two-seater, as the rear seats have been removed to save weight.

The model carries a base price of $275,350 in the United States. Porsche notes that this pricing represents approximately an 11% savings compared to a similarly equipped GT3 coupe with S/T-sourced carbon components. The 911 GT3 S/C is scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships in late 2026.
