EA Temporarily Suspends Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s Microtransactions

There has been an ongoing debate regarding gaming features like loot boxes. Some are calling it gambling, while others claim that it isn’t, and perhaps to avoid further controversy, EA has announced that they will be temporarily suspending Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s microtransaction feature.

These days we’re starting to see developers introduce loot boxes to their games. Basically these loot boxes contain a variety of items, depending on the game you play. For some this includes additional gear, like weapons, armor, in-game currency, and so on, some of which actually impact gameplay, while some are merely cosmetic.

EA Might Stop Annual FIFA Or Madden Releases

EA launches new iterations of its flagship sports titles like FIFA or Madden every year but it seems like the company is thinking about moving away from this model. EA CEO Andrew Wilson has now discussed the possibility of EA ditching annual releases for its sports franchises. It’s not something that EA is doing immediately but it’s not taking the option off of the table either.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Live For EA Access Subscribers

One of the incentives that EA Access subscribers get is that they’re allowed to play upcoming games for a few hours several days before the title is due to be launched. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is going to be released later this month. Those who subscribe to the $4.99 per month EA Access service can now play the game’s trial before it’s officially launched.
