New Sony VAIO P Series With Accelerometer Announced

Sony’s VAIO P notebook might not be the most powerful notebook around, but if you’re looking for something really portable, then it does fit the bill. As the rumors have been going around of an upcoming refresh to Sony’s VAIO P series, the refresh has finally arrived, giving us a matte lid and a bunch of colors to choose from. Interestingly, the new VAIO P series has an optical touchpad and mouse buttons built right into the LCD bezel, allowing you to fiddle with it in a similar manner to how you’d hold a Nintendo DS. The inclusion of an accelerometer also makes it more interesting, as you can flip the device vertically to read lengthy documents, or tilt it left or right to move forward and backward when surfing the web, which might make it seem like you’re playing some kind of racing game. Processor options range from the entry-level 1.6GHz Atom Z530 to the 2.13GHz Atom Z560. The official pricing isn’t available just yet, but you can be sure that it’ll cost you a pretty penny. Just to recap, specifications of the upcoming VAIO P Include:

  • Intel Atom Processor
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Built-in 3G
  • GPS and digital compass
  • Accelerometer
  • Weighs just over 600g
  • 1600 x 1280 pixel resolution display
  • Five color options: black, white, pink, green and orange
