Samsung Blu-ray player snubs Warner, Universal movies after firmware update

One good thing about Blu-ray players would be their ability to receive firmware updates from time to time that helps lengthen the longevity of the device, unlike older VHS, CD and DVD players. While most updates go along without a hitch, Samsung’s latest v2.09 firmware update that targets its 2009 BD-Px600 line of players have run into a wall – owners who performed the upgrade have reported that their Blu-ray player now no longer plays movies from Universal and Warner Bros., as it will lock up after displaying the title image. Samsung is aware of this problem and have rolled back to an older firmware version (v2.07) on its support site. Hopefully that a revamped v2.09 update will be in the pipeline not too far from now, otherwise you might just have to sit out on a few of the more recent Blu-ray releases.
