apple-tvDuring Apple’s Spring Forward event a couple of weeks ago, the company shared some Apple TV news which was that they were going to reduce its price even further to $69. That was it. There was no mention of a hardware refresh or talks about new content, save for HBO Now which is also applicable to Apple’s other devices.

Now if you’re hoping that maybe Apple will share some new Apple TV hardware announcements in the near future, you might be in luck because according to John Paczkowski of Buzzfeed News, word on the street has it that Apple will be taking the wraps off a new Apple TV set top box at WWDC that will be taking place in the middle of the year.

The new Apple TV will feature new hardware and will see the use of the A8 processor under the hood. For those unfamiliar, the A8 processor is the same one found on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, so safe to say that it has no problems pulling its weight. Its ability to output 4K video means that users can look forward to higher resolution content from the likes of YouTube and Netflix, although this will also require you to own a 4K TV.

The new Apple TV is also said to finally gain integration with Siri so users should be able to interact with the device using their voice. We have been hearing about Apple planning a hardware refresh for the Apple TV for a while now, but so far nothing concrete has emerged. Hopefully at WWDC Apple TV fans can finally stop waiting, until then do take it with a grain of salt for now.
