nexus-9-review-1

Last week Google confirmed that the Nexus 9 will soon be receiving the Android 5.1 update. The company certainly took its sweet time in releasing this update for the tablet given that the other Nexus handsets and tablets have already been updated to Android 5.1. There’s good news today for Nexus 9 owners because the over-the-air release of Android 5.1.1 for this tablet has finally begun.

As all software updates are released these days, Google has now rolled out Android 5.1.1 for Nexus 9 over-the-air. When the update goes live in your particular region the tablet will notify you of an available update.

That’s your cue to hook up to a strong Wi-Fi network and ensure that there’s ample charge in its battery, before you starting downloading the update.

Those who would rather not wait for the OTA to go live in their region and would prefer manually updating their device, they can get their hands on the factory image of Android 5.1.1 for Nexus 9. Google has put it up on the website and it’s readily available for download.

Folks who have never flashed a ROM before might find it a bit hard to immediately figure out what they’re supposed to do with the factory image, they’ll certainly be better off by waiting for the OTA to arrive. Less troublesome, that procedure.
