samsung-solar-schoolSamsung does not only churn out some pretty nifty smartphones that reside on the high end side of things like the Galaxy S6, but they have also introduced several measures and initiatives that do benefit mankind overall. For instance, it has been over the course of several years that the South Korean conglomerate has opened up more than 1,000 Smart School classrooms worldwide. These Smart Schools happen to make use of Samsung’s technological solutions such as mobile devices, e-boards, educational software in order to enhance learning experiences for children and young adults in close to 100 countries, and one of their crowning glories would be the Solar Powered Internet School (SPIS).

The first SPIS unit was built in 2011, and since then, numerous other SPIS units have sprung up across 15 African countries, with no signs of stopping anytime soon. These SPIS were recently showcased at the UNESCO World Education Forum 2015 in South Korea, and it sure did their bit to show the world just how technology is able to bring the global village closer and together to unite under a single banner. It must be noted that solar power is all that is required to run the SPIS units, and it makes perfect sense that the SPIS would thrive in Africa considering the amount of sunlight they get throughout the day.
