sf5-betaWhen Street Fighter V was announced last year, it was revealed that the game would be an exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 4 and the PC platform. This obviously meant that the game would not see a release on other platforms, like the Nintendo Wii U or the Xbox One. However for those who were hoping that maybe the exclusivity would be a timed exclusive, it looks like you’re out of luck.

In a statement a Capcom representative made to GameSpot, it has been revealed that at no point in time will there be a Street Fighter V for the Xbox One. According to the rep, “One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox. But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.”

What does this mean? Well for starters it means that if Xbox One owners wanted to play the game, they’d either have to go out and buy a PS4, or install the game on their PC. Alternatively they could wait for the next Street Fighter installment which could appear on the Xbox then, although who knows when that might be.

In response to the exclusivity, Xbox boss Phil Spencer promised gamers last year that he would find some way to make it up to them. He was also quoted as saying, “I’d love it if Xbox fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It’s all part of competition.” In the meantime Street Fighter V will see a release in the spring of 2016.
