OP_Icons_Earphones-003_LR_Gold_Front_Back_03If there is one thing OnePlus is known for it is for creating affordable products like smartphones and accessories. The company has launched several headphones to date, with the first model being the OnePlus Silver Bullets which was priced at $14.99. The company later teamed up with JBL for the E1+ that was priced at $39.99.

However it looks like the company is venturing into pricier headphones as they have announced the OnePlus Icons, which is priced at a whopping $49.99 (OK maybe not whopping), make them the most expensive headphones the company has put out to date. Of course $49.99 is “cheap” when you consider that there are more expensive brands out there, so how does the OnePlus Icons fare?

Putting them to the test, the company blindfolded participants at the Helsinki Music Centre in Finland where they got to try three pairs of headphones. One of the headphones was the OnePlus Icon, the other was an unnamed €100 headphone, and there was another unnamed €300 headphone.

Surprisingly it seems that many of the participants in the video chose the OnePlus Icon to be the more expensive pair of headphones after hearing them, only to be surprised when they found out that it was the cheapest. Obviously the video is in OnePlus’ favor, but either way $49.99 does seem like a decent price to pay, so if you’d like to get your hands on them, they are expected to go on sale 5th November.
