Samsung-Pay-03Yesterday it was announced that Apple Pay will be making its way to China in early 2016, thanks to a partnership with UnionPay. Given that we have been hearing these rumors for a while, it’s nice to know that they have been confirmed. Now Samsung Pay has also been rumored to make its way to China and it looks like we have confirmation.

According to a recent announcement by Samsung, the South Korean tech giant has revealed that they too will be making its way to China. Interestingly enough it seems that they have managed to enter the country with a similar partnership with UnionPay, so it looks like the clear winner in this Apple Pay and Samsung Pay battle is really UnionPay who will be getting two slices of the proverbial pie.

According to Injong Rhee, the executive vice president over at Samsung Electronics, “The collaboration with China UnionPay, coupled with the support from major UnionPay partner banks in China, will bring this secure and easy-to-use mobile payment solution to more Samsung mobile users.”

Unfortunately there is no date as to when Samsung Pay will go live in China, but the company has stated early 2016 so we guess we’ll just have to keep an eye out for it.
