htc_vive_ebayThinking about picking up the HTC Vive? Pre-orders for the headset are expected to begin next month but if there was one detail HTC left out that we’re sure many are curious about, it would be its asking price. However a recent rumor has suggested that the headset could cost $1,500, and now an eBay listing seemingly supports that theory.

According to the eBay listing, the seller has listed the price of the HTC Vive as being EUR 1,099, which when converted is roughly $1,200. Now you might be thinking that this is a scam, but the eBay seller, dasatd18 has 469 feedbacks and a positive score of 100%. This means that this seller has a good reputation on the website.

Also we should point out that this is for a pre-order, not for the actual headset, meaning that if you were to buy it right now, you will only get the headset when HTC releases it. According to the seller, “This sell is a pre-order for HTC Vive: Estimated ship date is around April 2016. I will Ship Your item only when it arrives to me.”

However since HTC has yet to confirm the price, paying $1,200 is a gamble. There is the possibility that HTC will price the headset much cheaper, in which you will lose out on this deal. The alternative is that it will be priced at $1,500 and you will actually save money. However we’re doubtful that HTC will price it so high, especially when the competition like the Oculus Rift is priced at $599, while the PlayStation VR is also expected to be in the $400-$600 range.
