tinder-officialWhile Tinder markets itself as a dating app, the reality of it is that many have turned to it as a hook-up app. We suppose it is well within their right to use the app however they want, but it never hurts to be safe, and by safe we mean to ensure that you practice protected sex so that you do not catch and disease that you might unknowingly spread to others.

Of course the onus is on the user to get themselves tested, but if you do not know where you should go to get tested, fret not because Tinder will now help you find the nearest clinic to get yourself tested. Tinder’s website does not actually list the clinics, but points users to Heathvana’s website where you can search for it based on your location.

According to Tinder, “Tinder empowers our users to create relationships.  An important aspect of any healthy relationship – whether formed on Tinder or otherwise – is ensuring proper sexual health and safety.  In that context, below are some tips for anyone forming a new relationship to protect their well-being.”

Tinder’s latest move isn’t entirely altruistic. This decision was made after the AIDS Healthcare Foundation launched an awareness campaign in which they associated apps like Tinder and Grindr with STDs. Tinder has since asked the organization to take down those ads following the launch of the new health safety section on their website, in which the organization has agreed to do so.
