It is not surprising that movie studios have always been cautious when it comes to making R-rated films. After all this pretty much limits their audiences, but recently with Deadpool becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, we suppose studios are starting to warm up to the idea: they just the right script.
That being said, we know that a Borderlands movie is in the works and now a report from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the movie has found its writer. Aaron Berg is said to be the new writer for the movie, and for those unfamiliar with Berg’s works, he is behind titles like Section 6 and the upcoming G.I. Joe 3.
It has also been suggested that the upcoming Borderlands movie will sport an “edgy” and R-rated take on the material, which some have described as a Mad Max-like movie but only in space (which has us thinking Riddick), which given the game’s design and material shouldn’t really come as a complete surprise.
Unfortunately there’s no word on when the movie will be released, but we suppose it’s good that it has its writer which means that production and keep going. In the meantime Borderlands developer Gearbox has confirmed that a third Borderlands game from the company is in the works.
