If there was ever a video game that seemed like it would make a good movie, Borderlands is definitely one of them. In fact, about five years ago, Lionsgate announced that they were planning to make a Borderlands movie, but given the time that has passed since, it felt like it might have been forgotten or even cancelled.

However, that doesn’t appear to be the case. In fact, it seems that the movie is now in the process of being made where in an announcement by Lionsgate, the company has confirmed that horror director Eli Roth will be the one directing the upcoming movie. The movie will also be produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Erik Feig.

According to a statement made by Roth, “I look forward to bringing my own energy, ideas, and vision to the wild, fun, and endlessly creative world of the game. Randy Pitchford and everyone at Gearbox have been incredibly supportive of my ideas – it really feels like a perfect storm of creators coming together. We are out to make a new classic, one which the fans of the game will love, but also one which will find new audiences globally.”

That being said, it is unclear when the movie will be released. It is also unclear as to what kind of story the movie will be telling, and whether or not it will be reusing a story from the video games, or if it will be a brand new story set in the world of Pandora.
