Tidal may not be as popular as other music streaming services but quite a few people do use it primarily because the owner, who happens to be Jay Z, has some powerful friends in the music business that are sending exclusive content Tidal’s way. Their fans then have to subscribe to Tidal if they want access to that content, and now they can stream that content to Chromecast devices.
Tidal has sent out an update for its app which finally adds support for Google Chromecast. This will enable users to cast audio and video from the app to a Google Chromecast dongle.
The latest app update also brings some bug fixes and other improvements, but it doesn’t bring much in the way of new features, aside from the aforementioned integrated Cast option that allows for playback on the big screen using Chromecast.
Rival music streaming services such as Spotify already have support for Chromecast, other supported services include iHeartRadio, Hulu Plus, and more.
Tidal has been in the news recently for reasons other than Chromecast support. It’s believed that Apple is interested in acquiring this service primarily because of the access to exclusive content that it has. Rumor has it that the company is willing to pay as much as $500 million for Jay Z’s music streaming service but no official comment has been provided on this as yet.
