note 7 explodeWhy is the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploding? That is the question that many want to know. It is also a question that Samsung is trying to figure out themselves, and even after a couple of weeks, the company is still stumped. However during a recent shareholder meeting, Samsung’s co-chief executive J.K. Shin said that they are looking beyond just the battery.

What does he mean? Basically when the problem first came to light, many including Samsung themselves assumed it was the battery made by Samsung SDI that caused the problems. They then swapped suppliers, but despite that there were still reports of the phone exploding and catching on fire. This ultimately led to the phone being recalled for the second time and ultimately discontinued.

Samsung claims that they have managed to secure 90 of the devices out of the report 119 that caught on fire, and out of the 90, 55 of which were found to have battery issues, and the rest are still under investigation. This seems to suggest that there could be other flaws that might not be necessarily related to the battery that could be causing the problem.

Some have suggested that the design of the phone could be to blame and that the symmetrical design could have pinched the batteries, thus damaging them and causing them to explode. Others claim that the Note 7 was a rush job to beat Apple to the market which meant that certain things were overlooked, but either way hopefully we’ll have an answer soon.
