Want to create some gadget for yourself but think that is only possible if you had some kind of engineering or software development background? We suppose sometimes it can come across intimidating, but Luxrobo is hoping to change that perception with MODI, a series of modular devices that lets users create their own IoT or robotic gadgets.

This is made easy by the fact that you will not need any kind of tools in order to work with MODI. The modules connect by magnets which means that there will not be any soldering needed, and any other tools that you might need is entirely up to you and what you’re trying to achieve, but at the basics all you have to do is connect the modules with each other.

Like we said, MODI lets users create IoT devices thanks to its Network module that lets you use your smartphone and its accompanying app to control it. This lets users create all kinds of IoT devices like a light switch that can be controlled via your smartphone, or a sensor that alerts you via your smartphone when someone enters the room.

It can also be used to control objects like robots, and as you can see in the video above, the controller can be wrist mounted meaning that you can control things via gestures instead of more traditional input methods. It’s an interesting idea and if you do enjoy the occasional tinkering, then this project could be worth investing in.
