Facebook confirmed a couple of weeks ago that it was working on a new dedicated video app for TVs and it has been officially announced today that this app has been released for Samsung smart TVs. Samsung confirmed today that the new Facebook video app is available on its smart TVs, including its 2017 QLED TV series. The app will also be available on all of Samsung’s 2015, 2016 and 2017 smart TV models.

“It is a pleasure to bring the world’s social network to Samsung Smart TV users, as well as continue to see the value of Samsung Smart TV, as a platform, growing,” said Sangsook Han, Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Facebook video app for TV brings users a new way to enjoy Facebook videos on the biggest screen in their home. This app will let them watch videos shared by friends or Pages they follow, top live videos from across the globe as well as recommended videos based on their interests.

Users first need to log into the Samsung Smart Hub to download the application. Once they’ve done that they will receive a prompt for one-time Facebook login after which they can start watching and discovering new content on the big screen.

Facebook also said previously that it would bring this app to the Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV as well but it’s yet to confirm when the app will be released for those platforms.
