Apple has been rumored to have pretty big plans for Apple TV and tvOS, although the last release did not exactly prove that. However according to a report from last month, it has been suggested that Apple could be remedying that soon with a 4K Apple TV device, and now there is some evidence of that happening.

In a report from MacRumors, it seems that they were contacted by developer Firi Games who claims to have seen a single device identified as “AppleTV6,2” and running “tvOS 11.0” in the developer logs. The IP address linked to the device is also said to fall within range of Apple’s headquarters over in California.

This seems to suggest that there could be a new Apple TV in the works as the previous model was identified as “AppleTV5,3”, and given that there are no models linked to “AppleTV6,2”, perhaps this could indeed be a new model. Of course it is entirely possible that the details could be faked, but an Apple TV refresh isn’t exactly an impossible situation, so why not?

We’re not sure when Apple will release this alleged new Apple TV, but given that the previous device was released back in October 2015, we suppose a refresh with new features is due.
