Samsung made it clear when it officially announced Bixby that the new voice control interface won’t just be limited to its smartphones. It may have debuted with the Galaxy S8 but it will be expanded to other devices as well. Samsung is now following through on that promise as it has released Bixby for its Family Hub 2.0 smart refrigerator.

Samsung has announced that it’s pre-installing Bixby on its Family Hub 2.0 smart refrigerator. All new units that ship now will come with the voice control interface installed right out of the box. The company is also rolling out a big software update for the units that have been shipped in order to bring Bixby to them as well.

Bixby will enable Family Hub 2.0 owners to perform a wide variety of tasks using voice commands. They will be able to search for recipes, add items to their shopping lists, get information about the weather and latest news, etc all by just giving voice commands to their fridge.

Courtesy of its deep learning algorithm, Bixby gets better with time, so it will improve as users continue to rely on it in the kitchen. It’s only a matter of time before we see Bixby pop up in some of Samsung’s other appliances.
