By now we guess it is pretty clear that the next phone that Samsung will be launching will come in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. We’ve seen leaked renders, leaked training manuals, rumors, benchmarks, and so on, but so far we have yet to receive an official confirmation from either Samsung or AT&T, the carrier the handset is supposed to arrive on.

However it seems that AT&T has since confirmed the existence of the phone on their own website. This does not appear to be an official announcement, but rather the Galaxy S8 Active was mentioned by name in a promotion that the carrier is running, but it seems that at this time of posting, the mention of the handset has since been removed.

That being said, we can only assume that if the handset was mentioned in the promotion that it could be close to being launched. There is still no official date yet but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it. In terms of what we can expect, the Galaxy S8 Active will be pretty much like the Galaxy S8 in terms of specs and features.

However with it being an “Active” handset, it will come with other features such as a more rugged design in which it has military grade drop/shock protection as well as protection against extreme temperatures, along with an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
