It probably goes without saying that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the most anticipated movie of 2017, where even if you’re not necessarily a Star Wars fan, you’d probably have heard of it and might even check it out to see what all the fuss is about. That being said, this is also why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn of the movie’s financial success.

According to studio estimates, it seems that The Last Jedi was a hit financially and managed to pull in $220 million during its opening in the North American box office. This makes the movie the fourth movie to open above the $200 million mark in the US, with the first place going to its predecessor, The Force Awakens which managed $248.8 million, followed by Jurassic World which managed $208.8 million, and The Avengers which pulled in $207.4 million.

As for how it is doing internationally, The Last Jedi is said to have made $230 million in international ticket sales, which means that so far its total ticket sales are sitting at around $450 million, and possibly climbing as the movie continues to screen. It is unclear as to how much the movie could potentially earn, but we reckon hitting the $500 million mark shouldn’t be too difficult. So, have you seen The Last Jedi yet?
