Apple has many product categories, ranging from computers, wearables, smartphones, tablets, software, and so on. However it seems that for 2018, it could very well be the year for Apple’s MacBook laptops because according to StreetInsider, MacBook sales are expected to grow in the double digits for 2018.

This is based on KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who appears to be pretty positive about  the outlook on Apple’s MacBook lineup, where he predicts that the laptops could see a 13-16% growth in 2018. This is versus other products like the iPhone which he thinks will grow by 4-6%, while the iPad will grow by 7-10%.

We have been hearing rumors that Apple could have a new MacBook Air in the works. This is said to be a lower-end model but still sport a Retina display, which means that customers who can’t afford to shell out for the more expensive MacBook Pros will be able to pick this MacBook Air as a potentially more affordable alternative.

This could help drive the growth that Kuo is predicting, although whether or not that it is true remains to be seen. It has also been reported that the MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar are seeing an increase in weighting in terms of shipments, which is a good sign as these are essentially Apple’s most expensive MacBooks. This indicates that despite the price, there is still a demand for them.
