Virtual reality (VR) technology is gaining ground in terms of being mainstream, but given that VR headsets are still relatively expensive and that they are somewhat limited in their use for now, it will probably be a while before they become ubiquitous (if at all). However it seems that Samsung is trying to get the technology more noticed.

The company has recently announced what they are calling “Pilot Season”. This is a new initiative where Samsung will be launching the pilot episodes of six new TV series on the Samsung Gear VR headset. The TV series will vary in terms of genre, ranging from documentaries, cartoons, comedy, action, and more.

These shows are not only being distributed by Samsung, but it has also been funded by them which could hint at the company’s interest in developing more TV shows in the future. That being said, these shows are only accessible on the Gear VR and go to the Oculus store and look for the Samsung VR Video service, from which they will be able to find Pilot Season under the Featured section.
