Some of you might remember that Apple announced its AirPower wireless charging mat for multiple devices in September last year alongside its new iPhone. The device would have enabled users to charge their iPhone 8, Apple Watch, and AirPods on a single mat. However, Apple has not been able to release the product so far and if a new report is to be believed, the AirPower wireless charging mat may not arrive before September this year. It would make it a full year since the product was first announced.

It was rumored earlier this year that Apple would release the AirPower wireless charger in March this year but that didn’t happen. It was then expected that the company would announce the release at WWDC 2018 but that didn’t happen as well.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is now aiming to release the AirPower charger either before or in September. The delay is reportedly due to “technical hurdles” that Apple has faced with developing this product. They’re related to the complex circuitry involved and engineers trying to ensure that the mat doesn’t overheat.

Engineers are said to be fixing software bugs as well since Apple is relying on custom chips so that users can place their devices anywhere on the mat to charge them. Apple hasn’t commented on the report as yet and so far remains mum on the potential release of its AirPower charger.
