Every now and then we hear and see leaks make their way onto the internet. This can be leaks about upcoming phones, tablets, software, computers, games, and so on. This usually results in the surprise being ruined, although it’s not necessarily the worst thing in the world, but it seems that Epic has had enough.

The company is now suing one of their former QA contractors over a leak which the company claims caused them “irreparable injury”. For those unfamiliar with the leak in question, it had to do with a meteor spotted in the game, in which according to Epic, one of their QA contractors Thomas Hannah was the one who leaked the information.

However Hannah has since refuted those claims saying that he had no knowledge of and minimal control over how the information got out. Instead he says that he had a private conversation with a third-party who pumped him for information on the upcoming event, which he later admitted that the conversation could have violated the NDA that he had signed, along with making statements without Epic’s authorization or consent.

Epic is now seeking punitive damages under state and federal trade secrets law, plus attorney’s fees, while Hannah’s lawyers are asking that the judge toss those claims.
