Sony currently holds the movie rights to the Spider-Man franchise and it seems that the company is really milking it for all its worth. Not only has the movie series been rebooted twice, but later this year we are also expected to be treated to a Venom movie, but apparently that’s not all.

In a report from Deadline, word has it that Sony and producer Amy Pascal are reportedly planning to develop a Spider-Man spin-off movie “Silk”, who for those unfamiliar is another superhero from the Spider-Man franchise where she is also known as Cindy Moon. Her backstory is similar to Peter Parker where she was also bitten by a radioactive spider and also gained powers similar to Spider-Man.

This is an interesting development if true, although we have to wonder how this will play into Sony’s current lineup. As it stands many are already curious as to how the Venom movie will fit into the MCU. While Sony has the rights to Spider-Man, they did work together with Marvel for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which also allowed the character to appear in other MCU movies like Avengers: Infinity War.

So if Sony does move forward with this movie, does it mean that we can expect Silk to be part of the MCU for future movies, or will she exist separate from the MCU? We guess we’ll have to wait and see as Sony is keeping mum for now.
