It is widely expected that Apple will be announcing a new Apple Watch in the coming months, possibly during the iPhone event which is rumored to take place in September. Perhaps in anticipation of the announcement, it appears that a bunch of Apple Watch bands have since been removed from Apple’s website, while a bunch of others have been marked as sold out.

This was spotted by Redditor ScaniaCB80 (via MacRumors) who noticed the changed. Now since Apple has been known to introduce new bands seasonally, it is possible that the company could simply be preparing for a refresh of the bands, which might not necessarily be an indication of a new Apple Watch.

However its timing does seem to be a coincidence especially when you consider that the speculators are claiming that the device could be announced in the second week of September. Plus in the past we have seen how product shortages or unavailability on Apple’s website can lead to a new product announcement or refresh.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is rumored to pack a slightly larger display, but whether or not this will affect the size of the lugs and whether existing bands will continue to be compatible with it remains to be seen. Either way check back with us in the coming weeks for more updates.
