We are seeing a lot of hacks take place in recent years, the existing method for protecting our accounts using a username and password is simply not enough. This is why methods like two-factor authentication have gained popularity, and also physical USB keys which helps authenticate users on a computer.

However there are some users who have yet to adopt more secure methods of protecting themselves online, which is why Epic is trying to entice gamers to protect their Fortnite accounts with a free in-game dance emote. Basically if gamers are willing to enable two-factor authentication for their Fortnite account, they’ll be given the Boogiedown emote for free.

According to Epic, “Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) can be used to help protect your account from unauthorized access by requiring you to enter an additional code when you sign in. The Two-Factor Authentication feature currently supports the use of an authenticator app or an email address authentication method.”

Interestingly enough Epic isn’t the first company to offer gamers an in-game reward for enabling extra security. A few years ago, Blizzard was giving away an in-game pet for players who attached the Battle.net Authenticator to their account. If you’re interested in enabling two-factor authentication for your Fortnite account, head on over to Epic’s website for the details on how to go about doing that.
