Several years ago, Capcom revealed their plans and interest in developing a live-action Mega Man movie. Last year we heard that those plans were moving forward and for those who are fans of the Mega Man franchise and think it would be awesome to see a Mega Man movie, it looks like it will officially be happening.

Capcom has announced that they are moving forwards with a live-action Mega Man movie which will be will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is unclear as to who will be starring in the movie, but we expect that more details should be revealed later on.

According to Capcom, “Based on the influential and globally beloved Mega Man franchise, Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”

There has also not been any date given with regards to its release, so once again we’ll just have to wait and hope for an announcement in the near future, but either way it’s good to know that the movie has been greenlit. That being said, video game-based movies have typically not done too well, so it will be interesting to see if maybe Mega Man has what it takes to break that cycle.
