Yesterday Epic announced that they would be effectively killing off its Infinity Blade franchise by removing the games from the iOS App Store. However according to Epic, they hinted that Infinity Blade could still appear in places we least expect. “As we bid farewell, be sure to keep your eyes peeled! You may find Infinity Blade popping up in places you wouldn’t expect.”

Turns out we didn’t have to wait too long for Infinity Blade to popup again because in the latest Fortnite patch, Epic has brought the Infinity Blade weapon itself into the game. For those who are unfamiliar, the Infinity Blade weapon was one of the main weapons in the Infinity Blade franchise, and probably its most iconic as well.

To see it live on in Fortnite is no doubt a huge welcome by fans of the franchise. We’re not sure if there are plans to bring more Infinity Blade skins to the game, like armor sets, so we’ll just have to wait and see. It is a bit sad to see the Infinity Blade franchise go, especially considering how iconic it was as Epic would announce it during Apple’s new iPhone events to showcase what the iPhone could do.

However given that the franchise is getting a bit old and with Fortnite possibly being Epic’s most popular game to date, it’s not surprising that that chapter has come to an end. It was also previously reported that Epic had put development on the new Unreal Tournament on hold to focus on Fortnite for now.
