In the early days of the iPhone whenever a new iPhone was launched, Apple would bring Epic Games onto stage where they would announce the launch of a new Infinity Blade game. The point that they were trying to make was that the iPhones were capable of handling games of that calibre.

While no new Infinity Blade games were being made, the original titles were still available on the App Store, but unfortunately that will no longer be the case. Epic has since announced that they’ll be removing the Infinity Blade trilogy from the App Store, citing the increasing difficulty in continuing to support the games “at a level that meets our standards”.

According to Donald Mustard, Global Creative Director, “The Infinity Blade series will always hold a special place for me personally and for Epic as a whole. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, but we are excited for Spyjinx and what the future holds!”

Gamers who have bought the game in the past will be able redownload them and keep them on their phones, but if you missed out on the opportunity to buy them, you won’t be able to do so anymore. It is kind of sad that the series has seemingly come to an end, but according to Epic, “As we bid farewell, be sure to keep your eyes peeled! You may find Infinity Blade popping up in places you wouldn’t expect.”
