Sony’s Venom movie has received mix reviews, where some have criticized the movie for its predictability, while others have praised actor Tom Hardy’s performance and how the movie on the whole felt “fun”. For fans of the Venom character and who wouldn’t mind seeing more of him on the big screen, your wish might have come true.

During an interview with Discussing Film in an episode of The Mutuals Interviews, Venom’s screenwriter Jeff Pinkner seemingly confirms that Venom 2 has been greenlit. When asked about the possibility of a Venom sequel, Pinkner replied by saying, “I can’t say anything other than that it is happening.”

He also seems to hint that the next Venom movie could see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man play a significant role. “Without revealing anything that I’m not allowed to reveal, it is not impossible that in a future/upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role.” Unfortunately Pinkner confirms that he will not be returning for the sequel, where when he was asked if he would be writing the script for the sequel, he said, “I am not. As of right now, I am not.”

Hardy had previously stated that he had signed up for three Venom movies, but suggested that future sequels will depend on how well the first movie does. Based on Pinkner’s statement, it sounds like Sony is happy at how the first Venom movie was received and are ready for it sequel.
