Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have a lot to be excited about this year. There will be a handful of films coming out in 2019 and the latest iteration in the rebooted Spider-Man franchise is one of them. Sony and Marvel have released the first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home today. We get a glimpse of the adventures that Peter Parker and his classmates will be embarking on as they go overseas on a school trip.

You obviously don’t get a lot of details about the plot itself from the trailer. However, it’s presumably set after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers: Endgame films. It does introduce a new villain called Mysterio who is being played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

There have been quite a few Spider-Man movies over the past decade. Sony owns the rights to this character and released the Tobey Maguire-starring Spider-Man back in 2002. The series was later rebooted with Andrew Garfield in the driving seat for two additional films.

Marvel and Sony inked an agreement to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that brought our friendly neighborhood superhero, played by Tom Holland in this instance, first to Captain America: Civil War before a standalone film titled Spider-Man: Homecoming was released.

Holland will be appearing in a trilogy so there’s going to be at least one more movie after this. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5th, 2019.
