August is no stranger to creating smart doorbells, having launched several such devices in the past. However earlier this year, it was reported that the company has a new smart doorbell in the works that would be sporting a brand new design. If you were after such a device, you’re in luck as August has since announced the August View.

As you can see in the image above, the August View is a departure from the company’s previous doorbell designs, where this model actually resembles a doorbell. The best part is that apart from its features, it will be a completely wireless doorbell. This means that users won’t have to worry about having the right kind of wiring, and will be able to easily install it themselves even if they have no knowledge when it comes to wiring up such devices.

Of course the downside to such a design means that it runs on batteries. However according to August, the rechargeable battery is said to be able to last between 3-6 months on a single charge, depending on your usage patterns. Users will also be notified multiple times when the battery is running low on juice.

As expected of a smart doorbell that comes with a built-in camera, users will be able to view a live stream of whoever is at their door, but if you wanted to save those live feeds, you will need to subscribe to the company’s cloud service. The August View is priced at $230 and will be going on sale come 28th of March.
