Google Translate does a pretty good job at translating different languages. The only drawback is that if you’re chatting with someone,  you need to switch back and forth between the app and the translation. However the good news is that it looks like Google has updated its Gboard keyboard app for iOS where it now comes with a built-in translation tool.

Basically what this means is that when you’re typing, you will be able to bring up the translation tool that will let you translate text on the fly. This uses Google Translate so if you’re familiar with the tool, then you should be familiar with this. Not only will you be able to translate text you type, but you can also take text sent to you, paste it inside the translation tool in Gboard, and have it translated back to you.

So far Gboard is slowly starting to become a miniaturized version of Google condensed into a keyboard app. The fact that it is available on iOS devices means that Google is slowly getting more iOS users to use their services even if they’re not on Android. The update to Gboard should already be live so head on over to the iOS App Store if you’d like to get your hands on the new translation feature.
