When it comes to Spider-Man villains, Venom is probably one of the more recognizable ones. In fact, many years ago, Venom made his debut in a Spider-Man movie, although many did not really seem to enjoy Topher Grace’s portrayal of the character. We got a second chance with Tom Hardy in which the movie was much better received.

However, the only problem is that the Venom movie seemed to exist largely outside of the MCU, but the good news is that Marvel appears to be keen on the idea of a crossover. In an interview with Kevin Feige, CinemaBlend reports that Marvel Studios’ head was quoted as saying, “I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

We should point out that this does not mean that this movie is a done deal, but rather Marvel is open to the idea if Sony is, although the latter is reportedly also interested. For those who are wondering what does Sony have to do with this, it is because Marvel had previously sold Sony the movie rights to Spider-Man and some of the characters from the Spider-Man franchise.

It was only a few years ago that Marvel and Sony managed to reach a deal that would see Sony “lend” Spider-Man to Marvel, resulting in Spider-Man: Homecoming and also allowing the character to appear in other MCU movies. It is unclear how they might fold Venom into the MCU or what kind of licensing deal they would need, but we’re sure that many would be interested in seeing both characters on the screen together again. In the meantime, we have heard that a Venom 2 movie has been greenlit and will most likely feature Carnage.
