For a while now, we have heard rumors that Apple could be working on a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses. The glasses were originally set for a launch in 2020, or so the rumors were saying, but now it seems that there is a chance we might never see them anymore. This is because apparently, Apple has stopped development on them.

According to a report from DigiTimes, it claims that Apple has temporarily halted the development of its smart glasses. The team that was working on them is said to have been disbanded back in May and have been reassigned to work on other Apple products. It is unclear why the company halted the development of the device, but if it is a temporary thing, it could pick up again later.

It is possible that Apple might have had a hard time trying to create a product and position it in the market. After all, they wouldn’t be the first company to try. Previously, Google had attempted something similar with Google Glass, which was amazing in concept, but it was kind of a flop in reality, leading to Google ultimately canceling their plans for it.

Perhaps Apple had hit upon similar feasibility issues during the course of its development, or perhaps the tech they need to make it work simply isn’t available yet, but either way, it seems that we probably won’t be seeing these glasses arrive anytime soon.
