If you’re interested in getting your hands on a new iPad tablet, then you might want to hold off on a bit. This is because according to a report from Japanese publication Macotakara, they cite Taiwan’s Economic Daily News in which they claim that Apple is expected to begin mass production of the next-gen iPad later this month.

Simply known as the “iPad 7”, it has been suggested that this could actually be the 10.2-inch iPad that has been rumored about for a while. It is also expected to succeed and potentially replace the current 9.7-inch iPad which has been Apple’s answer to the budget/entry-level iPad. It is an interesting size of choice as it puts it very close to the smallest iPad Pro, thus blurring the lines across all of its iPad models.

Assuming the reports are accurate and production does begin this month, it means that a release is probably not too far off, although when exactly is unclear. We expect Apple will be hosting an event in the coming months for its new iPhones, but whether or not this rumored iPad will be mentioned remains to be seen.

In addition, the report goes on to claim that Apple is also expected to begin production of its rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro in the fourth quarter of the year, although last we heard, the laptop was rumored to be announced in September.
