Last year, Samsung announced their upcoming smart speaker in the form of the Galaxy Home. The speaker has yet to be released following a series of delays, but it looks like Samsung is already interested in creating some variants of it. The company has officially announced that over in South Korea, they will be launching a beta program for the Galaxy Home Mini.

There had been previous reports suggesting that Samsung could be working on a smaller Galaxy Home. In May, it was reported that the Galaxy Home Mini had actually been spotted at the FCC, hinting that a launch could be close at hand. Unfortunately, we still have no idea when it will be launched, but the beta testing program could be an indication that we might be getting close.

That being said, it will be interesting to see how the Galaxy Home fares in today’s market. The smart speaker market is currently being dominated by the likes of Amazon and Google. Even huge tech firms like Apple are having a hard time breaking into the market, so it is unclear if Samsung will have better luck.

The Galaxy Home is pegged for a launch in Q3 2019 which means that the company has about a month left before the speaker is released.
