According to the rumors, it is believed that Apple will most likely be hopping on the 5G bandwagon this year with its new lineup of iPhones. However, if a new report from DigiTimes is to be believed, it seems that the iPhones will not be the company’s only 5G product this year, as apparently Apple could also be planning the launch of 5G iPad Pros.

Apple’s iPad lineup have long supported cellular connectivity, so for Apple to include 5G support in its iPads wouldn’t really come as a surprise. If true, then it is likely that the tablets will be making use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modems which will support 5G connectivity.

DigiTimes doesn’t always have the best track record when it comes to Apple related rumors. Their report is also somewhat contradictory to previous rumors, where top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously claimed that 5G iPads are only expected in 2021, although we wouldn’t mind if it arrived earlier.

That being said, take it with a grain of salt for now. 5G coverage is still in the somewhat slow process of being rolled out, so it will probably be a while before we can expect similar coverage as 4G. So even if you get a 5G device, and due to the relatively shorter range of 5G, you might not necessarily be able to take full advantage of it just yet.
