One of the problems with using headphones is that sometimes the sound can come across as being a bit one-dimensional. This is usually because of the size of headphones, where only so many drivers can be squeezed into such a small space, thus reducing its ability to create a soundstage that one might expect from a more traditional pair of speakers.

To combat this, we’ve seen headphone makers turn to the use of software to try and replicate the effect, and in the case of the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, it comes in the form of spatial audio. Now the good news for owners of either device is that a report from French site iPhoneSoft claims that Netflix is apparently testing out support for the feature.

The company has yet to confirm anything, but the publication claims that they spoke to an unnamed Netflix employee in the US who told them that the feature was in the works. The report goes on to add that support could launch in the spring with a small catalog of titles that will offer support for spatial audio.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if true, we can’t say we’re too surprised. With more people streaming on their phones these days, it would be beneficial for Netflix to offer up a better experience with their mobile app.
