It has long been rumored that Apple could be planning their own augmented reality based smart glasses. However, recent rumors have suggested that the company could actually be planning other mixed reality devices as well, such as an AR/VR headset. Now according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this is when we might be able to expect them.

In a note to investors obtained by MacRumors, Kuo believes that Apple will first launch their mixed reality headset in mid-2022. For those unfamiliar, Apple’s mixed reality headset was a rumor that surfaced in the recent months. It is said to be similar in concept to other VR headsets and Apple is positioning it more for developers rather than the general public.

We can only assume that this is to get developers to start creating apps and tools for AR/VR to help populate an ecosystem that will then be used by other devices later. Then Kuo claims that as for Apple’s AR glasses, those won’t be debuting so soon and will most likely arrive by 2025, which means we have about four years of waiting.

Kuo had also previously suggested that Apple could be working on a pair of smart contact lenses, but hinted that this device will not be debuting anytime soon and that if it does, it will be around 2030.
