Apple’s laptops have been using LCDs for the longest time, but that could change later this year when the company is rumored to be launching new 14-inch and 16-inch models that could feature XDR displays, which is the branding that Apple seems to be using to refer to mini LED display technology, as evidenced in the company’s latest iPad Pros.

This is according to a report from TrendForce who claims that two new MacBook Pros are expected to launch later this year, with the 14-inch model being the newest to the lineup. As it stands, Apple offers the MacBook Pro in 13-inch and 16-inch models, but we have been hearing that a 14-inch model could be in development, but we’re not sure if it will replace the 13-inch model.

Apple has updated the 13-inch MacBook Pro back in late 2020 where they gave it the M1 chipset. It is expected that the 16-inch model will also be getting the same treatment later this year, but it will be interesting to see how Apple approaches it as the 16-inch model is currently viewed as being the more powerful model thanks to the use of higher-end CPUs and also a discrete GPU.

Recently leaked schematics have also suggested that Apple could be ditching the Touch Bar for future MacBook Pro models, and that Apple will finally be giving the laptop more ports and connectivity options.
