Apple’s Mac mini hasn’t really changed much in terms of design. For the most part it has been this square metal box, which is fine because it gets the job done, but according to Jon Prosser in his latest video, he claims that the next-gen Mac mini with the M1X chipset will come with a new industrial design.

According to Prosser, this new design is said to include features like a plexiglass-like surface on top of the computer. Apparently this could be part of Apple’s strategy to allow them to create two-toned color options for the Mac mini, making it similar to the 24-inch iMac which launched in a multitude of colors.

It will also see Apple bring back a wider range of ports which includes USB-C and USB-A ports, Ethernet, and HDMI out. It will also come with a new power port that will use the same magnetic system as the new 24-inch iMac.

While Apple’s Mac mini has never really been seen as a powerful computer, having more ports does make it a bit more versatile. It is a good alternative to those who want a Mac but don’t want to pay too much for it. There’s no word on when this new Mac mini will be announced, so we’ll just have to wait and see if there will be any announcements made at WWDC 2021.
