It has been a while since Apple refreshed their AirPods. The last time we saw a new AirPods was when Apple launched it with support for wireless charging, but otherwise we haven’t really heard anything since. However, if you were hoping to see some changes or improvements, then you might want to hold out.

This is because according to a report from Nikkei Asia, Apple is rumored to be kicking off its AirPods 3 production in August. This means that by the time production is done, or at least underway, it will be in time for Apple’s September iPhone event where we imagine that the company will probably announce the new models.

So far not much is known about the AirPods 3 in terms of features, however in terms of design, leaked photos and renders have suggested that Apple will be making some slight modifications to the way it looks, such as shortening the stem, changing the shape of the earbuds, and its new case will be similar to that of the AirPods Pro.

Other than that, we’re not sure what kind of changes Apple will be making in terms of sound quality or other features, so that’s something we’ll just have to wait and see.
