When Apple first launched their Apple Silicon Mac computers, the Mac mini was part of that first wave. However, recent rumors are claiming that Apple could be working on an update to the computer that could sport a new design along with the inclusion of additional ports, more than what’s currently offered.

While we can’t confirm if the latest rumors are true, they do corroborate the previous claims. The latest set of rumors comes from a tweet by LeaksApplePro. The tweet in question has since been deleted, but not before it shared alleged schematics of the M1X Mac mini.

According to the schematics, it seems that the upcoming Mac mini refresh could feature 4x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2x USB-A ports, a HDMI port, one RJ45 Ethernet jack, a power button, and also a magnetic charging port, which we’re not sure if it could be like the MagSafe chargers from the good old days, or the modernized version we saw debut with the iPhone 12 series.

To give you some context, this essentially gives users two extra Thunderbolt 4 ports compared to the current version. The current M1 Mac mini only has two Thunderbolt 3 ports, but if the schematics are accurate, it will give users an additional two more while upgrading them to Thunderbolt 4. There is still no SD card reader which is a bit of a pity.

There is no word on when this new M1X Mac mini will be announced, but if they do, it will probably be towards the end of the year.
