Now that pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 7 have begun, those of you who were still hoping to get their hands on the Series 6 will be out of luck. This is because it seems that Apple has discontinued the Series 6 as it is no longer available for purchase from its website, so if you do want to get the previous-gen model, you’ll have to either try your luck at an Apple Store, or from a third-party retailer.

However, for those who don’t want the Series 7 but were hoping that the Series 6 would be a cheaper alternative, Apple does have other cheaper Apple Watches that they’re selling. This includes the Apple Watch SE that was launched last year, and also the Series 3 which will be the entry-level Apple Watch for those on a budget.

Some have made the argument that the Series 3 should have been discontinued years ago, especially since Series 3 owners are finding it increasingly difficult to install the latest watchOS firmware even though it is still technically supported. However, for those who simply want an Apple Watch and don’t necessarily care about the latest features in the Series 7, we suppose it’s not a bad place to start.

The Apple Watch Series 7 is priced starting at $399 while the Series 3 is actually priced at $199, a good $200 cheaper which does make it a more compelling alternative for shoppers on a budget.
