The state of the Nokia 9 PureView’s launch has been back and forth. It was initially suggested that the phone might be announced towards the end of January, but later there were claims that it could be unveiled at MWC 2019 instead. The latter report is gaining a bit of credibility as HMD Global’s Juho Sarvikas has confirmed the company’s presence at MWC 2019.
The problem with Android updates is that unless you own a Pixel handset, if and when the latest Android update is released for your device is really anyone’s guess. It seems that the Nokia 8.1 Plus may not be the only device from HMD Global to adopt the camera hole display. It’s believed that this smartphone is going to be launched later in February.
If 2018 was defined by the notch then it appears that 2019 will be defined by the camera hole. Display manufacturers have come up with another way of maximizing the screen real estate. It involves putting the camera in a cutout inside the display thus removing the notch and freeing up more space. HMD Global might be adopting this for an upcoming Nokia device.
The leaks concerning the Nokia 9 PureView are picking up steam amid reports that the handset is going to be launched in January. It was previously said that HMD Global had delayed this handset’s release to MWC 2019. Earlier reports have revealed that this handset is going to have a five-camera system at the back, however, the details about this camera system are slim right now.
In-display fingerprint sensors were launched in early 2018 when Vivo was one of the first smartphone companies to adopt it. It has since seen further adoption by other companies like Huawei and OnePlus, and it looks like Nokia is expected to use the feature as well in its upcoming Nokia 9 PureView.
