selfie-arm

Selfies are “in,” as they say which means people constantly have to put up with contraptions like selfie sticks which have received more than their fair share of criticism. Many entertainment venues are not welcoming selfie sticks, they’ve been banned from the year’s hottest music festivals and even Wimbledon will not tolerate them. Fear not, there’s another contraption for your wide-angle selfie needs and its called the selfie arm.

Created by artists Aric Snee and Justin Crowe who say that the idea behind the selfie arm came from his fascination with peoples’ “constant, gnawing need for narcissistic internet validation.”

As the name suggests the selfie arm looks like a human arm that you can hold hands with before snapping that selfie. When you post it on social networks it’ll look like you were with someone and not on your own.

This seems like a good option for people who would like to put up the facade of an active social life whereas the reality is completely on the contrary, they won’t appear lonesome as they snap themselves in flattering light or some place interesting.

Fortunately though the selfie arm won’t be mass produced. The artists are only going to sell a limited batch of ten for $6,200 a pop, that’s because it’s made out of lightweight fiberglass.

It’s very much possible though that a very cheap Chinese selfie arm knock off could make it on the market in the near future.
